GR1 Titanium Plate

Pure titanium is a very light density (4.51g/cm³) metal, very stable in the atmosphere, the surface generates a dense oxide film, which can maintain the luster of the metal; however, when heated to more than 600 ℃, the oxide film loses its protective effect.

Pure titanium GR.1 is also called pure titanium GR1, TR270C, titanium plate, ASTMB265 titanium plate, domestic TA1 and so on. In more media have a strong corrosion resistance, especially in neutral and oxidizing media corrosion resistance is very strong, but also commonly used in certain dilute reducing acids, such as room temperature until the boiling point of various concentrations of nitric acid corrosive environment.

 

The Japanese standards for pure titanium plate are JIS H4600 TP270C, JIS H4600 TR270C, and the more common standards are ASTM B265 and ASME SB265.

Mechanical Properties

The mechanical properties excerpted from ASTM B265 standard are as follows:

Tensile strength: σb ≥ 240Mpa, yield strength: 138Mpa ≤ σb ≤ 310Mpa ; elongation: δ ≥ 24%.

 

Corrosion resistance

Titanium has excellent corrosion resistance in alkali solutions such as sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, nitric acid and sodium hydroxide, as well as in moisture and seawater. However, titanium cannot resist the leaching effect of hydrofluoric acid.

It has good corrosion resistance to most alkali solutions, such as saturated solutions of barium hydroxide, calcium hydroxide and magnesium hydroxide at room temperature, but it cannot be used in boiling alkaline corrosive solutions of sodium hydroxide. Titanium is completely non-corrosive in seawater and is also resistant to most organic acids (except formic acid and oxalic acid).

It has excellent corrosion resistance in wet chlorine gas and chloride chloride ion corrosive solutions such as chlorite and hypochlorite. Corrosion resistance in sodium chloride solution increases with the increase of solution pH.

 

Processing Properties

The coefficient of thermal expansion of titanium is small, making it produce little thermal stress under high-temperature working conditions or during thermal processing.

Titanium's thermal conductivity is poor, only 1/5 of iron, coupled with titanium's large friction factor (μ = 0.2), making cutting and grinding difficult.

Titanium has a low modulus of elasticity and a high flexural strength ratio (σs/σb), which makes titanium and titanium alloys have a large rebound during cold deformation and are not easy to form and straighten.
